This is the world calling.Bob Geldof
Some of your professors will no doubt freak out if you tell them this but your classes are only fifty percent of what you need to do in college to succeed in life. They may not even be the most important 50%. The other 50% is what you do outside of class and, sadly, no one can make you do it. Many people don’t. For far too many people college is reluctantly going to class and perfecting their beer pong game.
Don’t be one of these people. You can use college to be a transformative event in your life, but you really have to be willing to put in the work. It’s a lot of work. If you don’t put in the work you will be missing out on all that college has to offer. Throughout this book, I have been telling you that many people go through college and end up in the same Mcjobs they could have had without a college education.
If you truly want to use college as a means of setting you off on the right path for the rest of your life, then you need to take full advantage of everything I suggest in this section. Let me be rigorously honest with you. I didn’t do all these things when I was in college and I was worse off because of it. I did do all of these things during graduate school, and it made all the difference. So do it right the first time.
