A thing that has never stopped amazing me is how people rush into college without any idea of what they are rushing into. But they do it by the hundreds of thousands every semester. When I talk to people about college they always describe something different. So in this section I want to give you a big overview of how higher education functions. To start, just to clear some space, I want to dispel some common misconceptions most people have about college. Then we can look at what we mean when we talk about college, and why some places that call themselves colleges and universities must be avoided at all costs. Once we understand all this we can talk about degree tracks, degrees and the people who teach your classes. It takes most people four, five, even six years to learn all these things. Some never learn it. You are going to get it in one section.
